Flowerville Farms was founded by an award winning landscape designer who retired from the landscape contracting business. Opened with an aim to sell unique, exciting and rare landscape & gardening plants.

What does one do when they sell your desk at the family landscape contracting firm? After decades of having life revolve around beautiful gardens and flowering plants, you open a nursery that carries the plants no one else in the area has. After being raised by a highly respected, successful landscape contractor, becoming the first female lawn contractor in the Detroit area and later spending well over 12 years as General Manager of the family firm where she oversaw 45 employees and designed and managed acres and acres of annual bedding plant displays as well as landscape design sales. It was just meant to be as even if she left the industry, it had a way of bringing her right back into it. Plants have somehow become a way of life.

Flowerville Farms is a small nursery that grows and sells specialty perennial and ornamental plants from a rural Livingston County, Michigan location (zone 5). Every attempt at procuring and delivering rare, hard to find and new or unique plants for gardeners and collectors is the aim at Flowerville Farms. This nursery is owned and operated by a retired landscape contractor who saw a need for a better choice of plant material in this area of Michigan. Supplying plants via mail order and to local customers since 2001.

The cost of shipping and packaging our mail-order customer’s purchases are done at no profit at all. Shipping costs are based on the US Postal Service rates from 48836 and are billed at the weight of the parcel once it is ready to go out to you. The cost of insuring the contents and delivery confirmation are also included in the actually shipping costs for tracking and coverage of your new plants until they arrive on your doorstep. The handling fees associated with shipping are as follows: $1.00 boxing, $0.50 per plant for the majority of items we send out. Larger trees and shrubs sold online are an addition $1.00 boxing and $0.50 per piece due to the more intricate packaging process they receive. All plants are moistened efficiently and wrapped in newspaper, plastic and paper sleeves that are held in place snugly while in transit. We have very few losses to breakage enroute due to the manner we have adopted for packaging. This also allows us to ship throughout the growing season with more care in packaging methods. We do not just stuff plants in pots in a box full of peanuts and sit on the lid to tape it shut around here! The cost of shipping live plants is far too variable to predetermine. We have found it far more fair to us and the customer to tally the costs at the time the order is ready to leave and bill the shipping separately at that time. Your receipt(s) and refund check (if applicable) will be inside of your box.
